Remote Workout 2020

In this difficult time Enso Center is moving to online workouts and other remote learning opportunities. We have been working on remote learning and remote community building tools with Mix Acupuncture (https://mixacupuncture.com) for some time and planned to be implementing them over the next year. The current situation has accelerated our plans. In the long run I hope these new tools will help us grow into more connected and more capable martial artists.

The first tool is a website. The website https://hapkidocircle.com/ is available now and will be free for currently enrolled students until we are encouraged by the local government to resume classes at the center. The website has the framework behind our system and our complete white-black belt curriculum with written and video content. In order to take advantage of this offer, just go to the website, scroll to the bottom and “join our mailing list”. You will then get an email asking you to create a password and then you will have access. If you have any trouble please contact jason.mix6@gmail.com

Second is Online Workouts Using Zoom Video / Web Conferencing

Regular exercise is an important component of health and wellness. In conjunction with Mix Acupuncture, we are offering free online workouts beginning Tuesday, March 17th. Please register for the program at https://mixacupuncture.com and click on “Online Workout” header button to get your access code.

a. Yin Class 5:30pm: Offered Tuesday and Thursday, this class will focus on qi gong, ton jon breathing, tai chi, yoga and meditation.

b. Yang Class 5:30pm: Offered Monday and Wednesday, this class will focus on raising your heart rate, burning calories and building strength.

c. Friday social 5:30pm: Time to ask questions, talk about your personal practice, or just chat about great martial arts movies (or whatever else you want)

We will also send you a link to our warm up routine to be done prior to the start of class. Because Zoom is an interactive platform, we encourage you to ask questions, make comments and reach out to your friends and colleagues during these times.

Together we are stronger. It is hard when we are asked to socially distance ourselves. It is my hope that with your help we will make a more vibrant and resilient community through weathering this situation.

About Us

Kiwon Hapkido

The techniques and curriculum of a martial art are like an alphabet. As you learn the letters, you are able to read and write. It is our goal to help people to express themselves and communicate. As we become more comfortable with reading, we no longer think about the individual letters, and we can create poetry. Rules and systems can be used to separate people or to bring people together.

We hope that this book will give people from different places and traditions a language to communicate and come together, to recognize our similarities as well as our differences.

The history of Hapkido has been told many times from different perspectives. It is our goal to look for direction from the arts and people that Hapkido’s founder and early pioneers honored. This is the heritage of Hapkido.  Master Jason Mix is a founder and instructor at Enso Center for International Arts, a non-profit martial arts and community-building organization in Redmond Washington. He teaches Ki Won Do (Energy Circle Way – an integrated art emphasizing empty hand and weapons practice), Hapkido (Coordinated Energy Way), Shin Shim Do (Mind Body Way - a Korean style of Tai Chi Chuan), Yang Style Tai Chi (Grand Ultimate) & Qi Gong, and Yoga.
